Beached whales head back out to sea
What - the honeymoon is over?
There are those who think that whales beach themselves out of despair and suicidal tendencies to end their plight once and for all... Killer whales are also attributed the "qualities" of a cat toying with mice when they give the same rough treatment to seals... (No - banning seal hunts is not a killer whale's concern... *lol*) Me... I think whales beach themselves out of simple disorientation... heavily-polluted waters must have the effect of drugs on them - dull their senses, resulting in making them lose their way out of a gulf or in-land straits... Nothing too surprising there - and, what a surprise (it is not) to see that WE are, once again, the cause of all this... I mean, who else do you think polluted these waters like that?!?

SYDNEY (Reuters) - All but one of 160 whales which became stranded on two beaches on Australia's southwest coast have been pushed, dragged and herded back into the ocean, rescuers said Friday.
The false killer whales, most between four and five meters (13 to 16 ft) long, beached themselves Thursday near the coastal town of Busselton, 200 km (125 miles) south of Perth.
"We herded the whales back out to sea," Mark Pittavino of the Western Australian Department of Conservation and Land Management told reporters.
"We don't know why this particular stranding happened, we would dearly like to know," said Pittavino.
More than 1,500 people took part in the rescue effort.
Some scientists think that if one or two whales become disoriented and are stranded on a beach the others simply follow or try to rescue them.
